Why is the iPhone so hard to find? It could be a scarcity-breeds-interest sales tactic. The rumor mill is hot with speculation that Apple’s next gen iPhone 3G is imminent. It’s a good bet that come June Apple fanatics can wed their own iPhone 3G - and not just in the state of California.

Apple says it wants to ship 10 million iPhones by end of ’08. Not having the product available at the Apple stores doesn’t seem like the way to achieve that lofty goal. But then, it could be an Apple sales tactic that plays upon the adage: Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Perhaps a short-term shortage of iPhones just prior to a major product upgrade will kick off iPhone 3G sales with a bang! It’s widely speculated across the web that supplies of the device were supposed diminish in time for Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in June. The much anticipated keynote by Apple CEO Steve Jobs is coming on June 9.  This is where he is expected to unveil the new iteration of Apple’s red-hot gadget of last year.

But that’s little consolation to those who are looking for a new iPhone now. It’s currently scarcer than a gay wedding in West Virginia. The iPhone is literally sold out companywide according a salesman who answered the phone at an Apple store south of Boston this week.

The same sentiment is being expressed across the nation. The iPhone is out of stock Applewide! Imagine not being able to buy the product you want when you want it. Is this a step toward the deterioration of traditional family values in America? Could it be a sign of a coming apocalypse? Nahhh, it’s just two people saying: I-do, just like any other marriage. It’s between you, your credit card and a newly released iPhone 3G in mid-June. Think of this as a cooling off period between iPhones.
