HTC Touch and Touch Dual – Breakthroughs in Form
HTC TouchTactile interface isn't just for lap dances anymore. Your favorite gadgets are getting in on feel-me fever.
HTC Touch is one of the most anticipated Windows Mobile devices and it's arriving at cellular providers near you.
My HTC Touch Story
It was a dull autumn evening when my HTC Touch arrived. The sort of rainy night network television was made for. I'd been waiting weeks to get my hands on the sexiest device I'd only seen on the pages of those cheap online magazines. It's seductive, like a rich breakfast on a Sunday morning with bacon and eggs ...and more bacon.
It has the kind of 2.8-inch touch screen that begs to be caressed, but looks so good you'd apologize for leaving fingerprints. Its petite 112-gram body is so thin at 13.9 mm it might make the Olsen twins start dieting again. You could drop this beauty down a tight shirt pocket without leaving so much as a ruffle.
Her packaging was smart and unassuming when she arrived, but delivered a powerful message.
"I may be beautiful, but I also have a TI OMAP 850 201 MHz processor to shred through even the most intense media files you can throw at me."
This picture of elegant beauty looked almost out of reach for a regular schlub like me.
She lay there begging to be unboxed and she didn't have to ask twice.
The box was nothing short of a luxury accommodation you might find in Dubai. Taking it apart was a night at the opera, a rare, cultured presentation. As I flipped open a reusable magnetic button, I marveled at how much thought went into this package's design. It reminded me of an un-boxing experience I'd had not so long ago. But never mind that, right now I was in the moment.
Tearing open the cellophane on new electronics is a religious experience. Just close your eyes to the sound of crinkling plastic wrap and somewhere within the aromas of fresh polymers, glues and chargeable capacitance minerals is baby Jesus, Buddha and your very first kiss all rolled into one.
The Grand Opening...
When I finally flipped open the lid to lay eyes on my score I was taken aback. Was this someone's idea of a joke?
Apple Core?
Then it hit me like the slap to the face that followed my very first kiss. I had experienced this kind of elegant packaging and sophisticated design before. Another manufacturer has been doing it for years.
HTC may have selectively borrowed many cues from Apple in the design of the Touch, including the cube interface. But it's one sexy Pocket PC and because it runs on Windows Mobile you can download a wealth of third party apps for it today.
Finally in the Touch, HTC proves it can compete with Apple in sophisticated yet understated design.

Don't worry, monthly PSN fees are in the works when Mr. Kutaragi's master plan kicks and PS3 really takes off in three or four years from now when the world realizes how superior it really is... then our user base will be close enough to Xbox Live that we'll begin billing you a monthly.
Dammit people, we're Sony, not the United Way!JS said on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 War of Words:
The 360 has been out for far longer than the PS3 so you can not really compare total sales figures of the 360 to the PS3 and say that the former is better or more popular. (If that were the case then the winner would be the PS2)
The 360 is in the same market as the PS3, but it is underpowered and unreliable. It may still prevail, but that looks unlikely. The 360 will slowly slip into the past as more people get TVs can actually display 1080p and buy the PS3 as a great gaming console with blu-ray capability.
I also agree with one of the above posts that if Sony charged a modest annual fee for online gaming then I would be happy to pay it, though i do hope that nobody from Sony actually reads this :-)

HDTV via HDMI over long lengths those technology specs the guy sites are important. deep color, higher refresh rates etc... you should not call someone an idiot about electronic technology and then send them to a site that is biased and tries to sell their own 'videophile' stuff, like all the advertisers at electronic house. 1080P over short lengths, probably does not make much difference as long as the Hdmi meets the 1.3 spec, but in custom install and longer length applications. get the better cable and have peace of mind, not to mention a better and usually lifetime replacement guarantee
