Facebook Mobile on Nokia Cell Phones

Facebook NokiaNokia and Facebook are now friends and will consider installing the partnership plug-in. Don’t be surprised if you see a Facebook icon grace the home screen of upcoming Nokia cell phones.

A partnership between one of the largest online communities and the largest cell phone manufacturer is still in its early phases. A report from MocoNews.net says the deal could have Nokia paying out to Facebook. The payout in the form of an investment would give Nokia part ownership in Facebook.

A mobile version of the social network on Nokia handsets would give Facebook added distribution. Nokia users would get direct access to Facebook and Nokia would probably buy an exclusive investment in Facebook mobile.

There’s not a lot to report on this quite yet but an unnamed executive at Nokia has said that the two are working on a partnership but declined to give any details.

Nokia’s investment in Facebook makes Nokia part owner of Facebook. Nokia has been throwing its considerable resources around lately in an effort to expand its mobile phone market into various services. The whopper recently was Nokia’s purchase of Navteq, a mobile mapping service, last October for 8.1 billion.
