BlackBerry Bold will Burn up 3G Networks This Summer

BlackBerry BoldRIM has finally introduced its much anticipated BlackBerry 9000 and has dubbed it Bold. The new BlackBerry Bold includes a wealth of multi-media features and those blazing 3G mobile access speeds we’ve been hearing about.

Blackberry Bold is not only the boldest BlackBerry yet, but also the fastest. It’s the first to support tri-band HSDPA (also known as 3.5G) destined to race through the AT&T and T-Mobile’s 3G wireless networks this summer.

RIM’s new Smartphone will include all the high-end features. It’ll include built-in GPS, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) and a full compliment of multimedia capabilities including support for iTunes.

It has a classic black exterior with chrome highlights and a unique feel. Many Smartphones are going rubberized to distance themselves from smooth plastic surfaces. RIM is sets Bold apart a new textured leather back. It should give it a unique feeling to grip and once you hold one… let’s just say grown men will cry if they don’t get their own.

It has some serious next-generation horsepower under the hood with a 624MHz processor. It also includes 1GB on-board storage expandable with a microSD slot, of course.

The name Bold probably addresses the unit’s display. RIM says it’s the boldest ever. The 480×320 pixel screen is built beneath a special lens designed to enhance the display. RIM says it’ll make images and color seem to leap from the screen.

BlackBerry, the once stodgy business phone is really hitting the high notes lately with expanded media capabilities. Besides everything you’d expect from a competitive high-end media-phone today - Bold has a new feature called BlackBerry Media Sync. That’s an app that will let your handheld synchronize with iTunes. It’s likely to be a very useful feature for iTunes users. What a brilliant idea for RIM to target the undisputed king of portable music, Apple. But you have to wonder – did Apple have to give RIM permission or license to build the Media Sync application?
