Sony PlayStation Home: Delayed but Going Beta

PlayStation HomeSony PlayStation Home is Sony’s much delayed social community online service. It looks like we might get to kick the tires on the service this summer. Barring any further delays of course. Sony has just announced the Beta will expand to open beta status this fall.

It’s Sony’s answer to Xbox Live, Facebook and Second Life all wrapped in one online service. PlayStation Home will be a real-time virtual world where you can interact using your very own custom avatar.

The opening up of the service has been delayed since it was announced last summer. But finally, PlayStation fans will see the beta testing expanded this summer to include a chosen few.

Applicants should enjoy dabbling with incomplete software and posses a strong desire to report bugs to Sony. This could be your calling!

Hey, what are a few frustrations dealing with an incomplete community; if you’re chosen you get to be first on your block to create the account name: n00b_K1LL3R.

The service is slated to open up further as an open beta this fall. That means anyone with a PlayStation 3 can join in on the incomplete community.

PlayStation Home was supposed to have gone live last fall but has been riddled with delays. At least keeping it in open beta this fall gives Sony time to repair any nagging issues. Good luck Sony!

This should have been the plan all along, If they do a beta they can be forgiven for glitches in the first few months.

Still... another delay... Just open the screwed up beta now sony, I dont mind a few crashes...
