Queen Elizabeth II plays Wii, casual gamer breakthrough

Queen WiiQueen WiiThe next time someone tries to slap you with that outmoded stereotype of video gamers all being pasty faced teenage basement dwellers - tell ‘em there’s royalty in your numbers. A British tabloid is reporting that Elizabeth II: Queen of England and Duchess of Edinburgh has a bit of a Wii habit.

Prince William’s girlfriend bought him a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. Royalty doesn’t have to put up with Wii rain-checks like the rest of us little people. Elizabeth seemed taken by the Wii-mote action and wanted to join in on the fun.

Now, according to the tabloid, it seems she has developed a Wii addiction. For someone 81 years the Queen is reported to have the steady hand eye coordination of someone half her age.

It’s a testament to the casual game system claims of the Nintendo Wii. If even the Queen wants to join in on gaming with Wii, then it must truly be system for the mainstream.

Apparently the Queen is a real gadget freak, she has a Blackberry and an boasts an iPod with over 100,000 songs.

Some great grammar and spelling in that post...

Anyway I can assure you the Brits don't 'worship' her. She's just a figurehead Head of State. That'd be like saying Americans 'worshipped' the President (which might be true of some people but it's certainly not the mainstream opinion).

I have a Wii and I do have to agree that it's fantastic for casual gamers. All my family have tried it including my rather technophobic parents.

Now there's something i'd pay money for, to see the Queen playing wii boxing, it'd be hilarious.

Now that's interesting, but why shouldn't the Queen be into that stuff? I think it's great that she's into that sort of thing (not to mention being great publicity for Nintendo). I have a Wii myself and it's fantastic. I can't wait to get Wii Fit as I''ve heard nothing but great reviews. BTW I'm an American, and I'd like to say that we Americans, while having democratic tendancies, generally show a great respect for the Queen of England (much more so than our current President...).
