Playstation Video Store is too expensive, unless I'm missing something; the pay per episode plan is ridiculous!
Netflix had said they were going to make there streaming service available to the PS3, and now I can find no mention of it on their website, and Sony is offering an over priced wannabe version at the Sony Store /sigh. I never watched PPV on my DirecTV either, for the same reason. I don't really care how the content gets to me, I just want it at an affordable price. So until Netflix releases a VLC client that will keep the RIAA people happy, I guess its PS3/Yellow Dog/Virtual Box/XP/Netflix eegads thats a bunch of crud.

LOL "without doubt playstation is standing on top in this console war" what are you on. XBL is far better than playstations online. And game wise it has all the titles playstation is at the back of the console race.

Here the problem with purchasing movies on the PSN. The movies cost $14.99 and include none of the special features that come on the disk. Also the movies are only DVD quality not HD. The HD movies can only be rented at this time. For $14.99, I can buy the actual DVD and get all the special features and deleted clips from the movie. Also I can watch the actual movie on any television in my house. The DVD coming out at the stores are now being made to include digital downloads. This allows you to transfer a digital copy to a media player. Sony is acting like this is something special.

The article knows Xbox LIVE Marketplace already has a video store. The competition is only limited to the E3 announcements. Microsoft announces Netflix... Sony fires back with its video store.

Make no mistake however... PlayStation Video Store is not the same as Xbox LIVE. On PSVS you get to buy and transfer content to other devices. No such features on LIVE Marketplace.

The article really seems avoid talking about the exist 360 store except in passing.

Apples should be compared with apples. Live has a video store much like the PSN video store. Live has more titles but PSN has higher quality of video and the ability to purchase is nice.

Netflix is something PSN simply does not do. And should not be compared with the PSN video store.

Yes you still need to pay the monthly fee for Netflix to use the service on your Xbox 360.

@ G

Unfortunatly that is not the case if you look at the faq provided it states you can't but if you don't think that forum post is definitive enough I will also link the Terms of Service where it states that policy.Look under # 9 Video Content 5th Paragraph.

Here is the Exact quote "Downloading will be not permitted outside the Authorized Term. In addition, once the Video Content has been downloaded from PSN, you will not be able to download it again for any reason without purchase of another copy."

Wolf26pack:

I had to reformat my hard drive and waws able to redownload all my psn network purchases. I imagine that the same would be true for the video off of PSN. It would make sense that you can use the download list to re-download everything.

The author also fails to mention that many of the movie titles offered on the PSN store do, in fact, provide a choice for the purchase or rent of 480p, 720p or 1080p.

Gizmom n00b I might reread as it does state very clearly that PS3 service is similar to something x-box already has.
