Grand Theft Auto IV Already Biggest Seller for Xbox 360 and PS3
It’s the most infamous politically incorrect video game title ever and its fourth installment is going to be HUGE! Grand Theft Auto IV by Rockstar Games stands to be the best selling video game ever when it’s finally released on April 29.
The game is anticipated to sell somewhere between six and nine million copies worldwide in its first week. That’s just enough to break previous sales records held by Halo 3.
Retailers across North America have confirmed that they’ll open at midnight on April 29 to sell the game as soon as it’s available. Best Buy, Best Buy Canada and several Future Shop locations have verified they’ll open at midnight to assist the much anticipated video game’s release.
Surprisingly even morality retailer Wal-Mart is getting in on the adults-only video game action. Wal-Mart has also announced that it’ll open several of its locations at midnight to be part of the estimated $400 million in sales that GTA IV is expected to generate in its first week.
Wal-Mart generally doesn’t stock controversial media like music it deems unsavory for family consumption. The retailer recently banned a Cheryl Crow album. A middling adult contemporary musician is one thing but a video game featuring a murderous East-European gangster that promises to sell with or without Wal-Mart is another matter.
Thank God for violent video games – bringing Rockstar games and the Christian right together at last!
