Age of Conan Open Beta A File Planet Rip-Off to Fans
That hotly anticipated Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, Age of Conan goes Open Beta today. But potential beta testing gamers are getting more than they expected - a bill from File Planet.
Age of Conan is expected to bring the fantasy MMORPG back down to its gory, head lopping roots. Instead of cartoonish Orcs, Conan’s Hyborian age should provide more grit. The game has gone open beta today which means that if you’re interested in helping out developer Funcom test and fix any bugs in the early working rendition of the game you can download and play for free… sort of.
The trouble many fans of the game are having is that downloads are hosted on File Planet which requires memberships to download. Of course, the membership isn’t free so have your Visa or MasterCard ready my friends.
This has many gamers a bit ticked off. There is also a matter of a level 13 cap for beta testers. But that’s understandable because of the way many people play these games, seeking only to level as fast as possible so they can post spoilers on the web to spoil the game for as many people as possible.
BTW AoC beta testers; if you get any hot spoilers you’d like to share please drop us a line!
The beta is for Fileplanet members and it's free for the members. If you are not a member it costs 5 dollars to be a member. It does not cost 5 dollar to play Age of Conan beta.
Fileplanets 10-20 million members are probably happy about the deal. People that want to try the game for free before they buy it are probably not so happy and will cry all over the web like little babies.
Crybabies should keep on playing WoW and let us adults decapitate each other in Hyboria.
PS
Think of it as a Fileplanet preview if you manage to get over your self pity over not being able to freely and for free play the game.
They say that it sucks anyways, even if you CAN get it to load and run for more than 10 min, the "worse than Vanguard" bugginess makes a crappy game look hopeless...
