Blackberry Bluetooth music plug-in now FCC Approved
RIM continues moves toward the consumer markets. BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway is a new accessory that turned up on the FCC site. It looks like everybody’s favorite mobile business device is going bananas for music!
The BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway just got FCC approval. It’s a tiny accessory that connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to a Multi-media BlackBerry to stream music. The tiny Gateway has jacks that’ll allow you to plug in headphones or even connect it to your home stereo system.
Sure it’d be cool to kick back on the couch and use the BlackBerry to select music - for about a minute. Then you have to actually listen to the music. Media-phones sound fine over tiny headphones but launching music through Bluetooth to home audio system will probably sound hollow.
It’s evidence that RIM is moving in the direction of consumer and media markets - but it’s no iPhone. The business device has a lot of tie loosening ahead before it’s ready to capture media market-space from that laid back Frisco style of Macworld.
